MMK – 120 years of quality and taste!
Who among us doesn't like to start our day with a good breakfast? And a mandatory attribute of a delicious morning for most of us is a slice of the most delicate sausage or a couple of boiled sausages. And these wonderful products are produced at the Mogilev meat processing plant. In the next issue of the project "This is it!" we go to MMK. Let's figure out what delicacies the Mogilev meat giant produces today, how young people work at the enterprise, and also learn about the unusual records that are set annually by employees of the meat processing plant.
How it all started
Mogilev Meat processing plant was founded in 1905 as a city slaughterhouse. All the processes of processing livestock and slaughter products were carried out manually at that time. The enterprise did not have hot water supply, electricity and was not equipped with refrigeration units. The processing of livestock did not exceed 20 heads per day.
In 1913, the company was reconstructed and equipped with an ice-salt refrigerator, and in 1922 a sausage shop with a capacity of up to 1 ton of products per shift was built.
During the years of the Great Patriotic War, the plant was completely destroyed. After the liberation of Mogilev, in June 1944, its active and successful restoration began. The construction of new production buildings was launched, a number of technical and organizational measures were thought out to increase the pre-war capacity of the enterprise. Inventors and innovators of the plant made a great contribution to the technical re-equipment of production.
For the successful fulfillment of the tasks of the five-year plan and the achievement of high technical and economic indicators, by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated January 6, 1971, the Mogilev Meat Processing Plant was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
On January 30, 2002, the company was registered as JSC Mogilev Meat Processing Plant. In 2018 It has become a certified beef exporter to China. In 2020, the plant completed the construction of a pig breeding complex and a feed mill.
And how is it now?
Mogilev Meat Processing Plant has been operating in the meat market for almost 120 years and specializes in the production and sale of sausages, meat delicacies and semi-finished products. Today, the company is one of the largest in the meat industry of Belarus.
MMK today is a modern enterprise with significant production facilities and highly qualified personnel. The range of products is constantly expanding here, new modern equipment is being introduced, technological processes are being improved, production culture is increasing, and better conditions for high-performance work are being created.
In addition to production activities, MMK is engaged in retail trade and catering. The chain of branded stores enjoys well-deserved attention from Mogilev residents and guests of the city, and the canteens of the enterprise offer, without exaggeration, some of the most delicious dishes in the city. It is pleasant that the pricing policy in them remains very democratic from year to year.
Delicious assortment
The wide range of products includes boiled sausages, sausages and sausages, baby food products, boiled–smoked, semi-smoked, smoked and cured sausages, meat delicacies, stewed meat, dumplings, chebureks, semi-finished meat products and much more. And kebabs, steaks and sausages of Mogilev production literally fly off the shelves of stores with the beginning of the spring and summer season.
The main stake in the sale of products at the enterprise is made on the domestic market of the country. However, the meat processing plant is expanding its presence at foreign sites. Meat products are supplied to Russia, Azerbaijan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia and even Vietnam.
Years of quality
"We honor traditions by improving quality" – this is one of the slogans of the Mogilev meat Processing plant.
It is precisely this slogan that all employees of the enterprise, without exception, are guided in their work. Inna Leonenko, the head of the production laboratory, told us about this:
– Quality is not a permanent category. What seems to be the top today may not be enough tomorrow. Therefore, our company is in a continuous search to achieve excellence in the competitive struggle. Today, quality should be interpreted much more broadly, including such product characteristics as innovation, environmental friendliness, customer orientation, efficiency and much more. Thanks to the support of the management, our production laboratory has all the possibilities to achieve its goals in obtaining high-quality products.
It is noteworthy that it was during a visit to the Mogilev region that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that 2024 would be the Year of Quality for our country. Therefore, it is the Mogilev region, and in particular the Mogilev meat processing plant, that should become the flagship for the production of high-quality high-tech exemplary products, according to MMK.
Numerous awards received by the enterprise at various exhibitions and competitions also speak about the highest quality of products of the Mogilev meat processing plant. Here are just some of the latest ones: 10 MMK products were awarded gold medals at the PRODEXPO-2024 exhibition. Beef "Yuletide", sausage "Royal premium", "Prosciutto premium" and other products became the best at the prestigious exhibition. And in the piggy bank of the Mogilev meat giant there are such awards as "Product of the Year – 2023", four prizes of the Republican business Award "Consumer Market Leader-2023", including the Grand Prix in the nomination "Meat products" for a wide range and high quality, "National Brand of Belarus – 2024", "Regional brand" and many others.
"Tin" how delicious
Last autumn, the first canned meat production line in the region was opened at the Mogilev Meat Processing Plant. It was from the new workshop that our journey through MMK's production facilities began. Canned meat of two types – beef and pork - is currently being produced on the new Russian production line. The gastronomic novelty hits store shelves in tin cans with bright labels, the design of which was chosen by the residents of Mogilev themselves, having participated in the popular vote. The manufacturer plans to expand the range. We were told in secret that in the near future it is planned to produce stewed bison.
And the work on the new line is organized by the master of the canning section, Victoria Demyankova, who came to the enterprise less than a year ago, but has already got used to it and knows the whole technological process by heart.
– Upon completion of the production process, our canned food is sent to the finished product warehouse, where it is aged for 11 days before being placed on store shelves, – Victoria shares the secrets of production. – A can of stew can be stored for 2 to 3 years. Now we produce from 11,000 to 16,000 cans per shift, but we are reaching a higher level, since our stew is in good demand from consumers.
Lunch is on schedule
After visiting the cannery, of course, our appetite woke up. And this is a great reason to visit the dining room of the Mogilev meat processing plant. Since the shift at the enterprise begins at 7 a.m., not only the usual lunch is organized for employees in the dining room, but there is also an opportunity to have breakfast. Which we took advantage of. Our meal consisted of fried eggs with a piece of MMK branded sausage, a salad "Herring under a fur coat", two pancakes with sour cream, a glass of apple juice and a bun with raisins. Such a hearty breakfast usually costs an employee of the plant 3.5–4 Belarusian rubles.
With sausages for life
The final point of our tour of the enterprise was, perhaps, the most delicious – sausage and culinary workshop. It is here that Zinaida Kamarova has been working on the sausage production line for almost half a century. Zinaida Kononovna has been working as a sausage shaper for 46 years and produces about 3 tons of sausages per shift!
– I work well here because I love what I do. Changes have been noticeable over the years. The equipment is being improved, everything is improving – and the sausages are becoming even tastier. By the way, my favorites are called "Favorites". I definitely eat 2-3 pieces for breakfast. I'm not going to take a well-deserved rest yet, the authorities ask me to work more, but I like my job.
Not a single production
– We are actively engaged in social activities. We participate in numerous social projects. We always take a direct part in republican and regional holidays, patriotic and mass sports events," says Natalia Prishchits, Acting head of the Development and Marketing Department. – And we also attend various exhibitions not only in Belarus, but also in the CIS countries and abroad. Our products have already visited China, the Khabarovsk Territory and many other regions, and more recently we presented our delicious products at VDNH in Moscow. Everything is in order for our products to be known and loved by as many consumers as possible around the world.
A record, another record
It has become a good tradition for MMK to congratulate the village workers with "Dazhynkami", setting some delicious record. For example, the Mogilev meat Processing Plant produced a stick of boiled sausage with a record length of 50 meters for the regional "Dazhynki-2022", which took place in Slavgorod, and at the Dazhynki-2023 holiday in Khotimsk, the workers of the meat processing plant set a new national record by cooking the largest cutlet in Belarus. Its diameter is 2 meters and its weight is 155 kg! By the way, after the holiday, the cutlet was transferred to the Khotimsky psychoneurological boarding school.
Conclusions
After visiting the Mogilev meat processing plant, we were once again convinced that in the Mogilev region they make not only high-quality, but also delicious. This is because the professionals who work here are very fond of their work. And any product cooked with love cannot be tasteless. And even after visiting the MMK, our appetite was seriously whetted, and I realized that, to my shame, I had never tasted Mogilev dumplings… And you?
